My crane has a problem

The listing for my Broderson IC-80 said that there was a problem with the boom, but it was so cheap I didn't think too much of it and got it anyway. Now I'm a bit more available to start poking it and see what's the problem. Everything runs, but the boom won't extend at all. Sound like the pump is running, so I think that's not the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

If the pump's running but the boom won't extend, check the telescope cylinder holding valve, it's designed to lock the boom in place if pressure drops, and it can stick or fail. Also inspect the hydraulic lines for blockages or leaks.

Absolutely! If there are issues with the holding valve or if there's a blockage in the line, that can really throw a wrench in boom movement. Great idea to check both of those things

Start by inspecting the hydraulic valves and hoses on the boom. Often, if the pump is running but the boom isn't extending, it's due to valves that are either stuck or blocked.
