Altec D800 crane wireless remote

my boss just got this service truck with an Altec D800 crane, and we're stumped on the wireless remote.

The crane works fine with the manual controls, but the Hetronic remote won't do squat.

When we turn the key switch on the truck, the pressure goes up, and the remote lights up green and buzzes when you switch it on. But none of the crane functions actually work.

We're guessing we're missing some basic activation or pairing step. Anyone out there know the procedure to get these Hetronic remotes talking to the crane? Any help would be awesome!

I had a friend's D800 act up the same way, remote turned on and buzzed, but the crane wasn't responding. It turns out you need to press the start button twice after turning on the remote: the first tap clears the E-STOP, and the second activates it. Also, make sure to check the receiver's LED code, it should show "000." If it's different, that means it's locked out. A quick look at the fuses and relays is a good idea too, since those can disrupt the wireless connection while still allowing manual operation just fine. It's definitely worth checking all that before reaching out to the dealer.

Quick question, when the LED code isn't "000," how do you figure out what it's trying to tell you? Do you use a manual or decoder chart?

Okay, maybe I'm a boomer, but I'm interested in these wireless controls. What are the advantages that one would have from this feature?
